The Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is an accredited CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) course and is the ideal first step for site supervisors, providing an understanding of the relevant health, safety, welfare, environmental, and legal issues that could impact their role. The key takeaway from this classroom course is that safety is an integral part of effective site supervision.
The United Kingdom Contractors Group endorses the SSSTS course as the standard for all supervisors who work on UKCG sites.
The SSSTS course is aimed at people who have – or expect to acquire – supervisory responsibilities in the construction industry.
This two-day classroom course covers the following topics: The Health and Safety at Work Act and HSE regulations. Control measures and risk assessments. Legal responsibilities of site supervisors. Specific site issues that challenge supervisors daily. Effective toolbox talks (a short presentation on a specific area of health and safety, presented by the candidates). · Supervision of occupational health. · Behavioural safety.
Learning outcomes of the Site Supervisors’ Safety Training Scheme.

The SSSTS course consists of 2 assessments:
The trainer review considers the candidates contribution and behaviour over the 2 days, and includes 3 elements:
The certificate will only be awarded if you attend both days in the correct order and participate during the course.
Attendance will preferably be taken on consecutive days, but you can also finish the modules within two weeks of each other.
If, for any reason, you cannot attend the course on consecutive days, the two days must be within the same two-week period. If this is not possible for sickness or other reasons, you will need to enrol on a new course with the same stipulations.
Requirements
Your SSSTS certificate is valid for five years. However, we recommend taking a refresher course every three years to keep up with any changes in technology, environmental management, cultural behaviour, and legislation.
Supporting materials
To help you prepare for the assessment and trainer review, you will receive homework assignments and interactive revision materials covered by the course fee.
These interactive revision questions are based on actual assessments and include immediate feedback. You can use these materials as many times as you wish.
